Pushing through uncertainty

In keeping with our motto, “Bad decisions make great stories,” there is a theme that seems to be a constant thread for us as we continue to build our small business: Uncertainty.

  • Launching just a few months into a global pandemic.

  • Persevering through the loss of our best friend and co-founder, Big G.

  • Importing despite the specter of US tariffs on South African goods.

But here’s the thing, as East always says, “In Africa, if you aren’t fast, you are food.” So we keep going. We pivot. And to be honest, it’s really nice knowing that our plan is to forge forward regardless of what happens in the external environment.

This year in addition to working with Big G’s cousin, Richard, we started working with our longtime friend, Sean—who also grew up alongside Big G. Sean has in turn included his son, Max, and all of sudden we find ourselves with a deeper bench of Lekker friends who continue to make Big G’s legacy possible.

We still plan to import just a handful of cars each year and we would love for one of them to be yours in 2026. If you’ve been waiting for the “right moment” consider this a sign. Adding some adventure and uncertainty to your life can be a good thing. And we’re here to help you every step of the way!
